Re: Breitling Navitimer 01 Stratos Gray Limited Edition

About five months ago jnelson3097 hooked me up with his AD and I was able to pick up a Stratos Navitimer and all I can say is that I absolutely love it. It wasn't my first navitimer, so I was not worried about how it would fit. But I absolutely love the dial, to me it stands out a lot more than the traditional dials that Breitling has produced. I not sure what the availability of the Stratos is but if you do have the opportunity to purchase one you should definitely give it some serious consideration, you won't be disappointed!

I have one as well and absolutely love it. It's limited to 1000 pieces so the chances of ever seeing another one in person is slim. I like that. I like having unique one of a kind things. It's currently on black Croco deployant which is comfy. I also purchased the bracelet for it but have yet to swap as I am enjoying the Croco more than I thought it would. Looks great with black face.

The newest recruit at my company just bought this on a Navi bracelet for a ridiculous local premium. Objectively, if it wasn't for the price, i'd say the pros and cons are as follows (compared to the standard Navi 01).

    Pros:
    - The dial is not the iconic color scheme, but it is very striking in its own right
    - Not likely to run into anyone with the same watch - ever
    - A bit more formal looking than the reverse panda, but still sporty

    Cons:
    - A bit too much red for my taste
    - It's a limited edition, but there are so many "limited editions" of the Navi 01
    - The inner bezel finish is a bit plain compared to the sunburst dial
    - Color scheme is less versatile for various OEM/aftermarket straps

Overall, I'd still take the reverse panda one any day

I can't fine one local to me to view but can get one delivered but it's always risky buying without trying!
At its ideal size of 43mm this specific Navi is IMO the overall winner of the Navi sweepstakes. I absolutely love it! I honestly can not say one negative thing about this watch. I have loved all four of the Navi's (and Cossies) I've owned but would have most certainly been content with owning just this particular beauty. It epitomizes a classic "Aviator Watch" IMO. Just my .02 worth of course...
    Best,

How does this model have any more red than the standard navi? From what I can tell, it's the exact same.

It is a LE, but none of the others look like it and it has a reduced production run from most.

It it actually has a sunburst dial...

Oops - my mistake. For some reason I thought that the chrono/small sec. hands were red. That i must've gotten confused with some other model as i was making the above list.

What i meant when i said that "The inner bezel finish is a bit plain compared to the sunburst dial" was that the dial is indeed a sunburst dial, but the inner bezel is just a plain-jane black inner bezel. To me it felt a bit incomplete/incoherent. I realize that, overall, the plain black matches with the sub-dials and this was a deliberate design decision. However, it still seems like the color scheme could have been executed better.

As for it being an LE: No offense to Breitling but their LE's just don't feel special because there are so many LE's for every watch. I'm not saying that their LE's are bad, it's just their LE's don't really carry any weight in my eyes. They feel more like a limited-run "launch edition" Subaru STI than a special edition Ferrari F12 tDF.

    Hope that clears it up.
